The Journey
I was born on a working Ohio farm in 1973. And while I toyed with the notion of farming over the years, it was never to be the passion for me as it has been for my dad. Although, I must admit that many of the foundational principles I hold dear were formed while standing in the dirt and manure of those fields.
After earning both coveted designations of class clown and valedictorian at my rural high school, I went off to Kenyon College on scholarship. Suffice it to say that this was the beginning of a long, circuitous road.
At any rate, I earned my undergraduate degree from Ashland University and my graduate degree from Case Western Reserve University, both in finance. I also earned my Chartered Financial Analyst designation. It might logically follow that my career has centered on finance.
For many years while doing quite normal things such as marrying my long-suffering wife, having children, and working, I maintained a notebook filled with abnormal ideas. Most entries centered around stories. And as I found myself reading more from authors like Ken Follett and Bernard Cornwell, the settings of my yarns became more historical.
With a fair helping of anxiety, I wrote my first real novel in 2011. What was to be one book turned into the original three Norseman Chronicles. They’re ok. Since then, I’ve penned and published more than twenty novels, all with historical bents and with a fair degree of success. Most are geared for adults, some for kids of all ages.
The goal of my style of storytelling, such as it is, is to bring names and dates from history to life so that we may better understand ourselves today – warts and all.
Since you’ve come to this webpage, I presume you’ve read one or more of my books. Thank you. I know readers have millions of choices and finite time. Again, and sincerely, I thank you.
